Principal's Message
Dear HERO Students and Families,
Welcome to the last week of the first marking period! It's hard to believe that we have been in school for almost six weeks already. I'm happy to report to parents and families that students are settling in well. While students are still quieter than they usually are at this time of year, they are making more and more connections with their peers and teachers. Classrooms are calm and focused, and after-school clubs and sports have been really well attended.
There's a couple of things I want to bring to your attention tonight. Friday, 10/22, is the last day of the marking period and the last day that teachers will accept work before submitting grades. Parents and families, please talk to your child and your child's advisor about their academic performance so far. If they have fallen behind, it's not too late! We have tutoring in every subject after school both in person and remotely on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please help your child get extra help if they need it, or challenge themselves to make the honor roll. This is an important week and we want to see all of our students do as well as possible!
Looking ahead, I want to give you some advanced warning about some important upcoming dates:
Monday, 11/1: First marking period report cards distributed
Tuesday, 11/2: Election day. No in-person school for students. There will be asynchronous activities for students.
Wednesday, 11/10, 5-8 pm and Friday, 11/12, 12-3 pm: Family conferences. You will be able to make an appointment with your child's advisor remotely or in person. Please make sure that your child attends the conference with you. The conferences will be student-led.
That's it for now. Have a wonderful Monday evening!
All the best,
Kristin Cahill
